I spent thirteen years of my life as an English teacher in one of New York City’s largest and most well known high schools. My departure wasn’t a choice and I did not go quietly. I look back on that time and feel relief. I was released from a twenty-five year jail sentence for “bad behavior”. I won ‘t write about that any time soon. What I will write about are the colleagues, administrators, students, scandals, and insanity of living the life as a teacher in the most corrupt environment one can imagine.
